![]() Maternal and Neonatal Group News2008 Towards 4+ 5 has been profiled in a Guardian supplement on the UN millennium development goals, published on 24th Sept 2008 in association with DFID. Simple things that can make a difference highlights the achievements of women's groups in Nepal and Malawi in reducing maternal and child mortality, and also emphasises the benefits of working in a multi-partner, multi-country research consortium. 2007 Action needed on maternal deaths - the BBC reports on figures published in the Lancet today (12/10/07) which show that maternal mortality rates have shown little improvement from 20 years ago. Similar reports also appeared in The Guardian and The Independent, ahead of next week's Women Deliver conference in London. Dr Carine Ronsmans' study in Bangladesh is mentioned as one of the few areas to show improvement in mortality figures.
